Gardening - things that make me stiff

I spent quite a large proportion of this weekend in my garden.  It's a small garden but still takes a lot of looking after - particularly after all the rain we've had and the weeds that have grown,

In the spot left where Bill helped me to take out the tree, I have put a poinsettia and a lime tree to try to hide the veryrich fence

Vodka and lime on the verandah this time next year?

 Berries are looking good ..........

and one quarter of the 'quilt' garden has been given the treatment - three to go! and that took three hours of saturday and two of sunday!

This bad thing has moved out of the garden and is growing a large family of hippies on the path.  I have a plan to kidnap someone with enough muscles to dig it out and put it in front of my picket fence.

Strange fruits - Coles had pomegranates for $1 each - worth buying even if you don't like them (which I do) because they look so pretty.

These strange fruits are finger limes which Bill has grown at Nimbin - they're full of little bursts of lime flavour and quite delicious scattered over salad

neighbours

we live in a narrow street and it can be quite difficult sometimes to swing out and get into your garage or carport if cars are parked opposite.  Yesterday a young friend parked her car opposite my house in a spot that apparently made it difficult for mrs veryrichbuilder to get her black 4wd bmw into the veryrich compound through the sliding gates.
I was on the nature strip with Bill loading the trailer but she ignored us and left this note on Laura's windscreen
Interesting really - I was wondering if any of the veryrichs knew how to write - she obviously passed printing at school.  Shame she didn't enrol in social relationships!

saturday

Bill and Marina stayed with me last night and Bill made the mistake of asking me if there was anything I would like taken to the tip in his trailer.  I initially said no and then thought that instead of pruning the mulberry in July, I could do so in June.....   In addition, he helped me to take out another shrub that had self-sown itself on what is meant to be a path.

so the mulberry has lost it's branches and hopefully will produce some lovely long stems in summer which I am hoping to plait into nice shapes!!! [watch this space]
and there is now a gap by the fence showing off the veryrichbuilder's fence!  I think I might plant a citrus there.

speaking of citrus - I planted an Emperor Mandarin last year and it has now decided to give me some fruit.

not only did they look so pretty on the tree but the one I ate was delicious!!!!!

I've also had a visitor - a very busy one who enjoyed playing and sitting in "her" chair and is now fast asleep with the very hungry caterpillar.  Like Archer, she's hard to catch in a photo......

catch ups

It was a lovely but wet weekend at noosa but worth it all to have daughter#2 with me and to catch up with some tasmanians.

To get out of the rain at the Eumundi markets, we ate some donuts in a music tent......  we then had our palms read and I am pleased to have been told that I am stubborn and will not get demential.
It looks as though this one will give me three grandchildren too!!!!!

we had a lovely dinner at Ricky Riccardos - those curtains behind us got very wet in the torrential rain and then, we had to be escorted one by one down the jetty by a man with a brolly, in order to get home again.
Sometimes, the sub tropics are not user-friendly!!!

This weekend has again been wet and cold but some southerners came yesterday and thought it was reasonably warm

it was hard to get a good photo of archer - now that he can walk, he doesn't want to stop for a pose!!  And that can be seen in this adorable series of photos of him with his Grandma - at least he's wearing the hat she knitted!!!!
